A child that is more inattentive may not show unwelcome or aggressive social behaviours, but they may miss social cues. They may not know how to respond in certain situations because they have difficulty with paying attention while talking or playing.
Children who have more difficulty with impulsivity and hyperactivity may come across as “too strong” to others. They might also make impulsive decisions or choices when they are with others that they might regret later.
This section provides information on teaching social skills to children with ADHD. This is an important part of supporting these children in being successful in school and beyond.
